The OECD Innovation Strategy and ICTs
| Speaker: | Fred Gault, Statistics Canada |
| Abstract: | As developing nations move towards industrialization, leaders of the stronger economies in the world are feeling threatened by a potential regime shift. There are new economic players (such as Brazil, Russia, India and China), new ideas and attitudes towards intellectual property, and a skilled workforce no longer limited by geography. The most powerful nations will need to innovate to maintain their positions in the value chain. For this reason the OECD has been asked to develop an innovation strategy for its members by 2010.
Fred Gault will discuss the difficulties of measuring innovation and of developing such a strategy, along with the important role Information and Communications Technology (ICT) must surely play.
